Softball Recap: North Hopkins' Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

If North Hopkins was feeling good fresh off their 14-1 takedown of Saltillo last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Hopkins took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolfe City Wolves on Tuesday. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Hopkins saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidance Godbolt, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Lucy Hernandez was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, North Hopkins hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Hopkins fell to 6-1. As for Wolfe City, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

While North Hopkins had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
