Soccer Game Preview: Mariner vs. North Fort Myers

Mariner and North Fort Myers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but likely not for long. The Mariner Tritons will face off against the North Fort Myers Red Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mariner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Fort Myers. That's two games straight that the Tritons have won by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, North Fort Myers waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They never let the Seahawks onto the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Knights, who have now won 14 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Cape Coral with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hannah Busenbark (4), Jaelyn Hoefer (3), and Bailey Root.

North Fort Myers' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 49 goals over those seven games. As for Mariner, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 17-2.

Mariner suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to North Fort Myers in their previous matchup on January 9th. Can Mariner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
