Softball Recap: Suwannee Sets Scoring Season-High Against Gadsden County

With a playoff win on the line, Suwannee rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Gadsden County Jaguars a 16-0 shutout. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emalyn Watley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maylee Gabey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gabby Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Suwannee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .962. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Suwannee now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Gadsden County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Suwannee will take on Wakulla at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The War Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Gadsden County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
