Recap: Paw Paw Pirates vs. Hancock Panthers

Even though the Hancock Panthers scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Paw Paw Pirates still came out on top. Paw Paw took their contest against Hancock 67-58. Given Paw Paw's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in West Virginia, while Hancock is ranked 292nd in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paw Paw was led to victory by Greyson Corbett and Donavan Tanouye. Corbett dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Tanouye scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Tanouye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Ayden Crabtree was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Jordyn King and Aiden McCarty certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. King scored 14 points along with three steals, while McCarty scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Anderson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Paw Paw's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Hancock, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Paw Paw will be playing in front of their home fans against Shanksville Stonycreek at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
