Recap: SouthLake Christian Academy vs. Gaston Day Spartans
SouthLake Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Gaston Day. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gaston Day's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshawn Coulter, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Kurt Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
SouthLake Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Gaston Day, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
SouthLake Christian Academy and Hickory Grove Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Gaston Day, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Concord Academy at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Concord Academy is ranked 86th, while Gaston Day is ranked 103rd).
