Basketball Game Preview: Monticello Ponies vs. Cassville Comets

The Monticello Ponies will square off against the Cassville Comets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cassville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Monticello, who comes in off a win.

Monticello took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Juda by a score of 70-58.

Meanwhile, Cassville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 65-39 to Potosi. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Chieftains are ranked 76th).

Cassville's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Monticello, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Monticello couldn't quite finish off Cassville in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 and fell 47-44. Can Monticello avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
