Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Venice

Venice waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Frostproof Bulldogs.

The team relied heavily on Kinley Rutherford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiana Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Venice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Venice pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Frostproof, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Coming up, Venice will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Port at 7:00 p.m. As for Frostproof, they will head out to take on George Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
