Volleyball Game Preview: Oasis Academy Bighorns vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns

After both having extra time off, the Oasis Academy Bighorns and the Battle Mountain Longhorns will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Oasis Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Oasis Academy came up short against Sierra Lutheran on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Battle Mountain didn't have quite enough to beat North Tahoe on Saturday and fell 3-2. The Longhorns have struggled against the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Battle Mountain wouldn't go down easily and took North Tahoe into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-8, 17-25, 27-29, 19-17.

Oasis Academy will need to focus on slowing down Alexis Rangel, one of several Battle Mountain players who made an impact when they last played. She had 22 digs. Andrea Alcaraz-Lopez was another key player, getting 29 digs and two assists.

Battle Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Oasis Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
