Softball Recap: Chickasaw Comes Up Short

Chickasaw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Murphy Panthers, falling 13-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chieftains of the 21-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Breanna Forrester made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. D'Aysia Todd was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Chickasaw's loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Murphy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chickasaw will venture away from home to take on Blount at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Murphy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Murphy Panthers challenge St. Michael Catholic Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: St. Michael Catholic has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
