Volleyball Recap: Ursuline Academy Starts off Right with Win over Bishop Watterson

Ursuline Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Bishop Watterson Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ursuline Academy got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-19, 29-31, 25-17, 25-15.

Ursuline Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kelsey Green, who had 11 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Green a new career-high in assists (42). Mackenzie Higgins was another key player, getting 20 digs and four assists.

Loss or not, Bishop Watterson got some senior leadership from Layla Hoying and Ava Picken. Hoying had 16 digs, while Picken had 13 assists and eight digs.

Coming up, Ursuline Academy will take on Archbishop McNicholas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Watterson, they will face off against Grove City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
