Softball Recap: Union City Indians vs. Randolph Southern Rebels        
        
		
            
 There's no place like home for Union City, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  last Monday. They never let the Randolph Southern Rebels onto the board and left with  an   11-0  win  on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for Union City, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Shannen Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Smith was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Scarlett VanMeter was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.  Hannah Woolston was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all two of her plate appearances.
 Union City's victory  ended  a  five-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 8-11. As for Randolph Southern, they  haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
 Union City will head out on the road to  take on  Anderson at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Randolph Southern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Daleville at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday.
