Basketball Game Preview: Sunbright Tigers vs. Jellico Blue Devils + How To Watch

Sunbright is 2-8 against Jellico since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will host the Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Sunbright knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Jellico likes a good challenge.

Sunbright had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Mount Pisgah Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Tigers breezed past Mount Pisgah Christian Academy to the tune of 78-45. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with Mount Pisgah Christian Academy: they've now won six in a row.

Sunbright had a senior duo take command as Noah Bunch posted 20 points and five boards and Levi Walker earned 16 points. The game was Walker's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Webb, who scored five points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jellico didn't have too much trouble with Hancock County on Tuesday as they won 77-59.

Jellico's win came from a few key players Sunbright will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jacob Bowlin, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Trey Vann was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Sunbright's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Jellico, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sunbright has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Jellico struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Sunbright couldn't quite finish off Jellico when the teams last played back in February and fell 59-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Blue Devils' Caleb Rose, who went 9-for-16 en route to 24 points.
