Preview: Bells Panthers vs. Leonard Tigers
Bells is 5-0 against Leonard since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Bells Panthers will be playing at home against the Leonard Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Bells will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Bells can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 59-14 win over Lone Oak. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-0.
Bells' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryson Thompson, who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Thompson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Allen, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last eight games, Leonard finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They were dealt a 63-0 loss at the hands of Gunter. While losing is never fun, Leonard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 719th, while Gunter is ranked 46th).
Bells' victory lifted them to 7-1 while Leonard's defeat dropped them down to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Bells against Leonard in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 56-20 victory. Does Bells have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leonard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
