Softball Recap: Shades Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fultondale last Thursday, Shades Valley came back down to earth. The Shades Valley Mounties fell just short of the Ramsay Rams by a score of 11-10 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Mounties in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Carleigh Blackwell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Trinity Bethune, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Shades Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ramsay struck out 12 times.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shades Valley fell to 2-1. As for Ramsay, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shades Valley will take on Pell City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Shades Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Ramsay, they will face off against Carver Birmingham at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
