Basketball Game Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. D'Evelyn Jaguars

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Evergreen Cougars face off against the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday... D'Evelyn took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Evergreen, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Evergreen beat Eagle Valley 72-63.

Meanwhile, D'Evelyn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Longmont, falling 62-28. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Trojans are ranked 53rd).

Evergreen is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for D'Evelyn, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything went Evergreen's way against D'Evelyn when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Evergreen made off with a 61-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evergreen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
