Football Game Preview: West Catholic Falcons vs. Christian Eagles

The West Catholic Falcons will challenge the Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 879 yards in their previous games.

Christian will be up against a hot West Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Falcons walked away with a 21-14 win over Spring Lake on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Lakers are ranked 113th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Catholic had a senior duo take command as Connor Olszewski rushed for 56 yards and one TD on only seven carries and Grady Augustyn threw for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Catholic's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Massi Wickstrom, Max Wildman, and Noah Gillespie, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Christian). They put the hurt on Forest Hills Eastern with a sharp 44-23 victory on Friday. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6, 2024 (when they won 37-6).

West Catholic's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. West Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 165.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went West Catholic's way against Christian in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as West Catholic made off with a 35-13 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
