Baseball Game Preview: International Jaguars vs. Gateway Gators

For the second straight game, International will face off against Gateway. The Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. International is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for International after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 10-5 to Gateway.

For Gateway's part, Luca Velasquez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave Velasquez a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Casey Volker, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Diego Tatum also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

International's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Gateway, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9.
