Northside is 0-10 against Lane Tech since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Champions at 4:30 p.m. Northside has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northside's last matchup with Resurrection could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. The Mustangs lost 11-1 to the Bandits. The Mustangs' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Northside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayda Rodriguez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI. Ella Breving also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lane Tech entered their tilt with Niles West on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wolves 15-4. Considering the Champions have won six matches by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lane Tech let Olivia Segura and Hannah Roeder run wild. Segura scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Roeder scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Grace Brobson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Lane Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Lane Tech's record now sits at 7-5. As for Northside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Northside hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lane Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Northside suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Lane Tech in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
