Basketball Game Preview: Paynesville Bulldogs vs. Minnewaska Area Lakers

Paynesville hasn't had much luck against Minnewaska Area recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. Minnewaska Area took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Paynesville, who comes in off a win.

Paynesville will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Eden Valley-Watkins, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Paynesville took down Eden Valley-Watkins 57-42 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Minnewaska Area came up short against Sauk Centre on Friday and fell 58-48. The Lakers have struggled against the Mainstreeters recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Paynesville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Minnewaska Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Paynesville came out on top in a nail-biter against Minnewaska Area in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 47-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paynesville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
