Eastlake and Montwood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Falcons will face off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastlake is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Eastlake fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Coronado on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Montwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Socorro 2-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted against the Bulldogs since April 26, 2022.

Montwood's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Vasquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Montwood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12-2.

Everything went Eastlake's way against Montwood when the teams last played back in March, as Eastlake made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
