Preview: Yellville-Summit Panthers vs. Atkins Red Devils
The Yellville-Summit Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Atkins Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yellville-Summit is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-8, which was the final score in Yellville-Summit's tilt against Salem on Friday.
Meanwhile, Atkins had to endure a 17-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 34-33 photo finish over Quitman. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Cole Crawford was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jaden Martin and his 93 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Atkins' win.
Atkins' victory bumped their season record to 1-7 while Yellville-Summit's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
Yellville-Summit took their win against Atkins when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 44-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yellville-Summit since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
