Football Game Preview: Christian Brothers Cadets vs. De Smet Jesuit Spartans

The Christian Brothers Cadets will challenge the De Smet Jesuit Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

De Smet Jesuit will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Christian Brothers extended their winning streak to nine last Friday. The Cadets took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-9 win over St. Mary's South Side. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-3.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but De Smet Jesuit had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 63-17 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Mustangs are ranked 130th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

De Smet Jesuit's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Christian Brothers, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything came up roses for Christian Brothers against De Smet Jesuit when the teams last played back in September, as the squad secured a 56-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
