Basketball Recap: Hanahan Hawks vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins

Hanahan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 77-36 loss at the hands of the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-34 last Saturday.

Despite the defeat, Hanahan saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tripp Gallus almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan McGahee out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. McGahee is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last six games he's played. Keith Smith was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Hanahan's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Hanahan will square off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Oceanside Collegiate Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. Orangeburg-Wilkinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
