Basketball Recap: Ponce De Leon Takes a Loss

Ponce De Leon has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Freeport Bulldogs on Thursday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 51-33.

It was another big night for Jasmine Miles, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 16 rebounds for Freeport. That's the most boards Miles has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Ludwig, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Ponce De Leon's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Freeport, they moved to 8-16 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Ponce De Leon has already played their next contest, a 31-25 victory against Bethlehem on the 4th. As for Freeport, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-26 loss against Holmes County on the 31st.
