Baseball Recap: Port Washington's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak at Home

Port Washington's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Plymouth Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sam Hoeft and Jack Bunyan did most of the damage at the plate: Hoeft went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Bunyan scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was O'Neal Wright, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Port Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plymouth only posted an OBP of .286.

Port Washington's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Plymouth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Washington will welcome Racine Lutheran/Prairie at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.4 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Plymouth, they will square off against Chilton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
