Softball Game Preview: Clear Lake Cardinals vs. McKinleyville Panthers

The Clear Lake Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the McKinleyville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Clear Lake will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Clear Lake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Albany 6-5.

Atiana Patino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Clear Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindee Bingham, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Cali Albaum was another, earning one RBI and two runs.

Meanwhile, McKinleyville unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Fortuna by a score of 6-4.

Clear Lake pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for McKinleyville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
