Basketball Game Preview: Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES vs. Mifflinburg Wildcats

The Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Mifflinburg Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Mount Carmel barely beat Tamaqua the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The RED TORNADOES blew past the Blue Raiders 73-41 on Saturday. The RED TORNADOES haven't had any issues with the Blue Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jaylen Delaney and Jude Lazicki were among the main playmakers for Mount Carmel as the former went 9-for-11 en route to 20 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals and the latter dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Delaney has posted since back in January. Daniel Snyder was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Mifflinburg hadn't done well against Danville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Ironmen 70-45.

Mount Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Mifflinburg, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Mount Carmel against Mifflinburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 77-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RED TORNADOES since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
