Softball Game Preview: Cornwall Central Dragons vs. Minisink Valley Warriors

Cornwall Central is 1-9 against Minisink Valley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Cornwall Central will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Cornwall Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Liberty 24-1 on Saturday. Considering the Dragons have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Minisink Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Monroe-Woodbury on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 8-7. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Hannah Ringus made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lyla LaBarbera, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cornwall Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Minisink Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
