Football Game Preview: Fieldcrest Knights vs. Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals

The Fieldcrest Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Fieldcrest nor Warrensburg-Latham posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Fieldcrest is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Knights were dealt a 34-6 defeat at the hands of the Falcons. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Fieldcrest's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zach Overocker, who rushed for 71 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and Lucas Anson, who rushed for 130 yards. Anson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 102 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Warrensburg-Latham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The contest between the Cardinals and Dwight didn't end well, with the Cardinals falling 28-13.

Warrensburg-Latham's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fieldcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Fieldcrest suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Warrensburg-Latham in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
