 Sadly, Monticello is still looking for their first win of the season after nine  matchups. They fell victim to a  rough 15-0 loss at the hands of the Wayne Badgers  in Friday's  first game. Monticello was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wayne apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2023.
 For Wayne's part,  Rylan Taylor made a big impact no matter where she played. She  pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (she also didn't allow any  walks). Taylor was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  MaKayla Jones was  incredible,  going 1-for-1 with a  home run, two  runs,  and a  stolen base. Another player making a difference was  Lilly Morrill, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Wayne, their win  ended  an  11-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-5.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Monticello by a score of  19-1 later that day.
