The Chariho Chargers will challenge the Westerly Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Chariho needed a bit of extra time to put away Narragansett. They had just enough and edged out the Mariners 4-3.

Chariho saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Elderkin, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Chargers are 2-1 when Elderkin posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westerly). Everything went their way against Lincoln on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Zack Miner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Luke Gwaltney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Tom Fiore was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Westerly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Westerly back to even at 4-4. As for Chariho, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chariho has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Westerly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chariho couldn't quite finish off Westerly when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
