Basketball Recap: Latta Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hannah-Pamplico

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Latta). They enjoyed a cozy 64-45 win over the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Latta to victory were Shayon Mcgruder and Xy'Mari Bethea. Mcgruder went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points, while Bethea went 9 for 13 en route to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Mcgruder's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mcrae, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Latta was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Hannah-Pamplico still got an impressive performance from Tylin Jenkins, who posted 17 points. That was a full 37.8% of Hannah-Pamplico's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Stokes Scott also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The win got Latta back to even at 11-11. As for Hannah-Pamplico, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Coming up, Latta will be playing at home against Hemingway at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hannah-Pamplico, they will challenge Lake View at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Hannah-Pamplico is facing Lake View at the right time seeing as Lake View is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
