Baseball Game Preview: St. Francis Borgia Knights vs. Owensville Dutchmen

St. Francis Borgia is 6-1 against Owensville since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Knights will host the Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m. St. Francis Borgia will be strutting in after a victory while Owensville will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Francis Borgia headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but St. Pius X let them put that streak behind them. The Knights blew past the Lancers 10-2 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

St. Francis Borgia got a great performance from Henry Zeitzmann as he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Zeitzmann a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Mallinckrodt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxtyn Frankenberg, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

St. Francis Borgia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Owensville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Pacific, falling 12-0.

Owensville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for St. Francis Borgia, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

St. Francis Borgia took their victory against Owensville in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Dutchmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
