Baseball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

Cherokee extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-2. They came up short against the Andrews Wildcats, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 on Thursday.

As for Andrews, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

For Andrews' part, Kelby Waldroup was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Waldroup is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Dawson Stalcup was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Andrews beat Cherokee by a score of 9-1 later that day.
