Softball Recap: Sebastian River Comes Up Short

If Sebastian River was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Lincoln Park Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sharks fell just short of the Merritt Island Mustangs by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Sharks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 16-7.

Rily Biggers was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Alexa Pittman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Sebastian River's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Merritt Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Sebastian River will take on Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. Merritt Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
