League recap: Bermudian Springs tops Littlestown to extend winning streak

Bermudian Springs extended the longest winning streak in York-Adams III this week by beating Littlestown, 24-8. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Eagles.

Biglerville and York Suburban played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Biglerville eventually emerging with a 41-38 victory.

Thomas Taylor and Alex Cooley gave Eastern York a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Taylor threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns, while Cooley ran for 254 yards. Clayton Miller also contributed to the rushing game with 12 yards on the ground.

Seth McGregor was the best wideout in the league this week as the Thunderbolts lost to Bermudian Springs. McGregor tallied four receptions for 65 yards. Nick Hornbrook helped Littlestown's passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.

York Catholic's James Dougherty and Aaron O'Brien have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading York-Adams III in both passing and receiving yards. Dougherty has thrown for 2142 yards this season, while O'Brien, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 25 catches for 566 yards. Cooley from the Golden Knights leads the league in rushing with 2350 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Bermudian Springs takes on second place Biglerville. Jon DeFoe's team defeated Littlestown last week, while the Canners beat the Trojans.

Zach Stroup of the the Eagles is only 81 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 119 carries Stroup has accumulated 919 yard this year.

The Fighting Irish made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,703 from 10,178. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-6 victory over York County Tech last week.
