Baseball Recap: Klamath Union Comes Up Short

Klamath Union extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-13 in the process. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cottage Grove Lions. Surprisingly, this marked the Pelicans' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Pj Safford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Cottage Grove, they moved to 6-14-1 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Cottage Grove's side, Nolan Spear was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Spear a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Eubanks, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Klamath Union had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
