South Gwinnett won the last time they faced Central Gwinnett, and things went their way on Saturday too. The South Gwinnett Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over the Central Gwinnett Black Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.
South Gwinnett got a massive performance out of Carley Davis, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Surai Williams was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, South Gwinnett lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've earned since back in September of 2023.
South Gwinnett's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Central Gwinnett, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
South Gwinnett's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rockdale County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central Gwinnett, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-7 victory vs. Meadowcreek on the 6th.
