Baseball Recap: Sacramento Drops Highest Score of Season Against San Juan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sacramento). They were the clear victor by a 28-9 margin over the San Juan Spartans on Monday. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tyrone Archie made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Archie was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Jaylen Crump was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Zion Jamison was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

Sacramento was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sacramento's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for San Juan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Sacramento will challenge Esparto at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacramento is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season. As for San Juan, they will square off against Golden Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Juan has given up an average of 20 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
