Baseball Recap: Doniphan Comes Up Short

Doniphan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Kennett Indians, falling 12-3. If the Dons and Donettes were looking for revenge after losing 16-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Aidan McAfee was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Doniphan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Jayce Lewis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Doniphan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Kennett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Doniphan will challenge Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dons and Donettes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Kennett, they will host Bernie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
