Basketball Recap: Fremgen Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cushman over Sheridan Hills Christian

If Cushman was feeling good fresh off their 76-33 takedown of Colonial Christian last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cushman Cougars took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sheridan Hills Christian Sharks on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Cushman lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Fremgen Jackson, who posted 19 points and five boards. Jackson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rex Feldman, who put up 17 points.

Sheridan Hills Christian was led to victory by Micah Smith and Dreyson Crynes. Smith dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, while Crynes went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points. Smith has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last ten times he's played. Xzavier LaFleur was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Cushman's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Sheridan Hills Christian, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9.

Cushman has already played their next game (against Pinecrest Glades Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sheridan Hills Christian will take on Highlands Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan Hills Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
