Softball Recap: Combs Comes Up Short

Combs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 10-6 to the ALA - Anthem South Titans. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Melissa Gonzalez and Jasseryn Polanco stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Polanco scored a run while going 1-for-3. Gonzalez is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Sophie Pearson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Combs now has a losing record of 2-3. As for ALA - Anthem South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Combs will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Marcos de Niza at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Combs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season. As for ALA - Anthem South, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against Benjamin Franklin at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
