Basketball Recap: Beaufort Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Beaufort hadn't done well against Bluffton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Beaufort Eagles walked away with a 50-37 win over the Bluffton Bobcats. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 62-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jania Hayward was a one-woman wrecking crew for Beaufort as she almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Davariyah Smith, who posted seven points in addition to 13 boards and five steals.

Beaufort was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bluffton only posted nine assists.

Bluffton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amirah Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Brown also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Bluffton is 2-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was EmmaKate McMahon, who put up nine points.

Beaufort's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Bluffton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Beaufort will take on Colleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bluffton, they will venture away from home to square off against Hilton Head Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton is facing Hilton Head Island at the right time seeing as Hilton Head Island is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
