Madonna hadn't done well against Magnolia recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Dons walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Blue Eagles. The Blue Dons were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Blue Eagles, so the Blue Dons were just returning the favor.

While Madonna won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-11.

Madonna found their leader in freshman Breea Birkhimer, who had 11 digs and two assists.

Madonna's win bumped their record up to 17-8-1. As for Magnolia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Madonna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Valley on the 2nd. As for Magnolia, after both having extra time off, they and Brooke will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
