Baseball Recap: Schaeffer Academy Comes Up Short

Schaeffer Academy is still winless after their game against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Grady Boldt was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. Boldt was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Payton Gora and Micah Ekbom stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gora got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Ekbom went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That run marked the first that Gora has scored this season.

Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Coming up, Schaeffer Academy will head out on the road to take on Mabel-Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they will host Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons are facing the Hurricanes at the right time seeing as the Hurricanes are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
