Softball Game Preview: Navarro Panthers vs. Davenport Wolves

Navarro hasn't had much luck against Davenport recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Navarro Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Tuesday. Navarro took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blanco.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Davenport). They were the clear victor by an 18-8 margin over La Vernia on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

KINLEY Keller was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Abbi Brandes, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Keller wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Davenport lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Davenport is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. Navarro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Navarro might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Davenport in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Navarro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
