Recap: Southeast Halifax Trojans vs. North Duplin Rebels
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Southeast Halifax Trojans walked away with it. They snuck past North Duplin with a 26-21 victory on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Southeast Halifax was the better team in the second half.
Southeast Halifax can attribute much of their success to Trayvese Silver, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 164 yards and a touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes. Southeast Halifax also got a significant boost from Jamereius Hudson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
When it comes to explaining why North Duplin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dujuan Armwood. Despite the final result, he rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Armwood hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games.
The win makes it two in a row for Southeast Halifax and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for North Duplin, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Southeast Halifax will head out on the road to face off against Tarboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarboro is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. North Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
