Recap: East Thunderbirds vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles
On Saturday, the East Thunderbirds's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over Mountain Vista. Given East's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in Wyoming, while Mountain Vista is ranked 55th in Colorado), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mountain Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Roscoe, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Roscoe's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Kiarra Spellman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
East's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mountain Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
East is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against Douglas at 10:30 a.m. on January 5, 2024. Mountain Vista will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ralston Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
