football rivalry between Ole Miss and Mississippi State, teams that share
hometowns with these high schools. Oxford, ranked 22nd in the latest
MaxPreps Xcellent 25, is off to a 1-0 start after shutting out
Southaven, 35-0, last week despite committing a whopping 24 penalties,
according to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.
Starkville is trying
for its third win over Oxford since the rivalry began in 2012. The
Yellowjackets must bounce back from a 26-20 double-overtime loss to
Noxubee County (Macon). A 14-catch, 147-yard receiving effort from

A.J. Brown couldn't save Starkville from its fourth loss in six seasons to the Tigers.
