Sandusky Bay recap Nov. 7, 2012
Perkins's David Doster rumbled for the longest rushing play in Sandusky Bay this season in his game against Urbana last week. Doster ran for 81 yards on the play and finished with 81 on the day as his team beat the Hillclimbers.
Oak Harbor moved up to 208 from 250 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league.
Perkins' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Smith threw for 211 and three touchdowns and Doster had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Mitch Benkey chipped in 116 yards. Dale Irby helped Perkins' passing attack out by catching seven balls for 59 yards.
Perkins' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 1549 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Irby has 37 catches for 565 yards. Benkey leads the league in rushing with 1053 yards.
Jason Ziegler's team extended the longest winning streak in Sandusky Bay this week by beating Urbana, 42-14. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
